School Bus Drivers Vs. Minnesota Cold
One thing all Minnesotans have in common is having to deal with extremely cold temperatures during the winter. Just to clarify, there is cold (anywhere from 0 to 25 degrees), and then there is cold (days when 0 degrees is the high). On those extremely cold days, many of us do what we can to avoid having to go outside. However, some don't have that option, such as your fellow school bus drivers. In fact, drivers have to endure early morning temperatures, which is typically the coldest part of the day. Keeping in mind that the weather never stands in the way of a school bus driver, we asked drivers what they do to keep warm on those extremely cold winter days.
Here are the most common answers:
Start the day early
Preheat your vehicles
Keep the heat on high
Proper attire/ extra layers
Wear long underwear
Hand and foot warmers
Bring a blanket
Keep hot chocolate or coffee close by
Bring a space heater to plug in whenever you get a chance
Mentally prepare
